CIP Delivers VRC Material Lifts Faster Than The Competition

Custom Industrial Products Delivers VRC Material Lifts Faster Than The Competition

Throughout the entire “supply chain nightmare” of the past few years, Custom Industrial Products has managed to remain a leader in delivery time and installation for standard VRC Material Lifts. Our ability to outperform in lead-time is a direct result of our internal fabrication and in-country sourcing, along with our 5-Step production process.

Over the years, as a pioneer in the development of the VRC, we’ve seen a lot of change. More recently, we embraced the underlying philosophy of the LEAN manufacturing process developed by Toyota, which was used for inspiration of our 5-Step process.

The five steps are:

  1. Design consultation,
  2. Design engineering,
  3. In-house fabrication,
  4. Pre-assembly and testing, and
  5. Shipping and installation

It is the strict adherence to and our unwavering discipline in following these steps that allows us to deliver VRC Material Lifts and Mezzanines more efficiently and cost effectively than our competition. Our blog post titled “CIP Standard Vertical Lift Production Process” examined each of these five steps in greater detail.

Now, while these steps may appear to be elementary, you’d be surprised where some of our competitors go astray.

The first thing is to not skip any of these steps, or tackle them out of order. In other words, you don’t design or engineer anything before deep and thorough consultation with the customer is completed.

While some of the issues may be similar, each factory, warehouse and distribution center is unique in design and material handling complexity. There is no “one size that fits all.” Even when the customer is ordering a standard, modular unit, there are still variations in terms of floors, height, and even loading and unloading configurations. The objective of this phase is to fully understand and deliver the perfect material lift to BEST solve the customer’s problems. Only then can a factory reach its full potential efficiency.

After we know what each customer actually needs, we begin the design and engineering phase, where our specialists create engineering drawings that detail all specs and conform to all safety and build requirements.

Then we build. At CIP, all of our factory elevators or material lifts are fabricated in house, right here in the U.S.A. Our facility located in Florida utilizes good old-fashioned muscle and skilled workmanship, along with the latest in robotic welding and powder coating technology.

It is this level of in-house fabrication that separates us from most of the others. As a pioneer with over 25 years of experience building VRC material lifts, we’ve got this down to a very efficient science. Plus, all internal fabrication means we aren’t waiting around for integral parts to be delivered.

That doesn’t mean we don’t outsource components like our world-class Sumitomo motors. But if it is part of the frame or steel structure, we’re fabricating that ourselves.

Our testing and pre-assembly gets everything ready to be shipped with easy-to-follow installation instructions.

Our 5-Step process enables us to deliver VRC Material Lifts that are “built stronger” and “delivered faster.”
